Hi everyone,

Hope you’ve all had a good Christmas despite the circumstances. It was
great we could all present swap even at the last minute! For some present
deliveries I had one of Santa’s reindeers to assist aka my husband! ;) Thank
you Mum for delivering the gifts to the care home for Grandma and thank you
for the gifts to myself and Ben.

I had a lovely Skype call with Grandma today. We chatted for 20 minutes
which is the longest call I’ve had with her. It certainly had moments where
Grandma and I were laughing together! The call started off with a common
occurrence where bless her she couldn’t find her glasses! Then I asked
Grandma “Did you have a good Christmas?” And she said “yes I spent it with
the family.” I think she was remembering Christmas times over the years!
Wishful thinking for us all too at the moment.

I showed her some of my Christmas gifts from the family and she enjoyed
seeing them. I told her one of the jokes out of our crackers this year “why
does Santa have three gardens? So he can Ho Ho Ho!” That made her laugh!
She did laugh last week when I told her about Ben delivering the parcels
dressed as a reindeer! I always make sure I mention all the members of the
family too. So I told her that I had delivered parcels to everyone and
mentioned you all by name. She did ask me today how old I was now and she
couldn’t believe I was 24! I always find good topics of conversation are
reminiscing about her teaching days. I tell her funny stories about my
little ones at work and the things they come out with! I tell her she’s a
big inspiration to me with my career working with the little ones in
Reception. She grinned from ear to ear. She did say to me today “have a
happy new year won’t you and give my love to all the family.” We mastered
the Skype selfie as well so I thought I would take the opportunity where
she had the camera at the right angle to take a smiley selfie! I’ve
attached the photo in this email to show you all. She was quite keen for us
to have a photo too. Quite often it’s just a view of half of her face as
she doesn’t always know how to position the camera haha so I’m absolutely
thrilled to have taken this photo of us.
