Is there any way to enable spell-checking in two languages simultaneously?

Yes, by George! It's a little wonky now and then, but by and large it does just what I was wanting. Seemingly, you disable all but the languages you want — in my case English and French — then go to Spelling and Grammar in the Edit menu, select "Multilingual" from the pull-down menu in the resulting Show Spelling and Grammar dialogue box, tap "Change" and from then on your application will check spellings in both languages at the same time.

Presumably the same thing would work trilingually in German, French and Italian, say, if you happened to be Swiss.

A little wonky, as I said. It objected to "Merci" but was fine with it when I typed exactly the same word over again. Nevertheless . . .

Thanks, Wayne.
