One solution -- DELETE that irritating QuickTime Picture viewer in OS 9. It's the worst application Apple ever came out with. This will for once and for always solve your problem of accidentally opening Classic (& the QuickTime Picture viewer for that matter :) :) :) Secondly, a number of comments regarding your viewing behaviour in OS X. QuickTime is for video, not for stills. If you're doing stills you should be using *at the very least* Preview. It's a much better app than QT for viewing pictures. iPhoto will do a good job as well. I think Rich (or iMary?) mentioned the trick of doing a Get Info and telling it to open *All* docs like this with application X, Y, or Z. You don't have to control click. Just drag-and-drop! If you don't have it, DOWNLOAD GraphicConverter!!! Finally, what brand and model of camera do you have? I doubt the manufacturer doesn't have OS X software for your camera, *or* that iPhoto or ImageCapture lack support for the camera. iPhoto/Image Capture can access an astonishing number of cameras without requiring you to so much as install a single driver into OS X. I plugged my Canon PowerShot A70 into the laptop and iPhoto magically opened. The manual for the PowerShot insisted "install the driver software first or else your computer will not know what to do with the camera" (of course, there are numerous spelling/grammar errors in the manual suggesting that it was probably translated (by a pretty incompetent translator) from Japanese). PS I am working on the assumption you are running OS X 10.2.6 (no one that has been running their computer in OS X for more than a few weeks has an excuse not to run the latest update (other than perhaps being limited in your ability to download the update b/c of dial-up access)) Eric. >From: Alex <admeddemda@xxxxxx> >Reply-To: muglo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >To: muglo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: [muglo] pic batch dropper? >Date: Sat, 26 Jul 2003 15:45:45 -0400 > >Bc I have to use VPC in OS9 to get pics off my camera (bc VPC in X >cant do it), I end up with 100's of pics formatted in Quicktime for >OS9, and everytime I want to look at one, I have to control click it >and choose to open it with Quicktime for X. > >Is there anything that I can use to just drop these pictures on to >change their format to something X will recognize without wanting to >start classic? > >_________________________________________________ > >For information concerning the MUGLO List just click on > > http://muglo.on.ca/pages/members.html#Joinmuglo > >Don't forget to periodically check our web site at: > > http://muglo.on.ca/ > _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
