Did you ever manage to get $500 for a G3/450, not in its original case, with
<20 GB of HD space? <evil grin>

Given that you're satisfied with what you have you ought not switch yet.

That said, I would encourage you to dip your toes in the OS X waters.

Eventually you'll have to make the switch and you may find that it improves
your computing experience (most likely the internet component) in the short
term. OS X and OS 9 can co-exist very nicely on one computer. It's easy to
switch from one to the other, and if you have 192 MB or more of memory you
can run OS 9 on top of OS X as a fake application (which also means you
don't have to leave behind any of your favourite OS 9 apps (& you get all
the benefits of robust and fast OS X internet apps)).

OS X 10.2 is probably a good place to start if you're not willing to spend
much money (b/c you can pick up OS X 10.2 for peanuts on the web... someone
on the list may even have an unused copy of 10.2 lying around and would be
happy to get $10 or $20 for it).

As it is, your computer has enough RAM memory to allow you experiment with
OS X! You can run Safari, Camino, FireFox or Mozilla or Netscape. The web
browsers available for OS X are so far ahead of what's available in OS 9 and
much faster too (except on the simplest of web pages).

If you want to start running more than two (simple) apps you'll need _at
least_ 192 or 256 MB of RAM in which case you'll have to spend a little bit
on RAM... of course, you should probably try to crawl before trying to run.

Eric.
