I like that, Wayne. Just like the Calculator and Dictionary abilities hidden in
"Spotlight". Were you at the meeting when I talked about that?

This brings up the subject of Topics for this fall. It certainly isn't too
early. What would Muglo members like to see and do? I know that last sentence
is like lowering the Cone of Silence on the group, but I'm hoping that there
will be more participants in our forthcoming season.

One fascinating and fairly new capability is QR coding. This is more prevalent
in Europe and Asia, but is being seen in North America on products and ads.
What's QR coding? Look it up in Google and YouTube.

While you're there, take a look at AR, which stands for Augmented Reality. It's
like QR with a quantum leap. Even Star Trek creators hadn't dreamt of this. Is
there anyone out there who could take this ball and run with it for part of a
meeting?

There are so many new gadgets and capabilities that, as I said before, they
come so hard and fast that we gloss over their contributions to our lives. Back
3 decades ago, Alvin Toffler described a "Future Shock" where society wasn't
able to assimilate the changing pace. Some of his hypothesis is true, some not.

When I started in the printing business, the technology of lead and steel type
was still in vogue - That was the same technology used in printing the
Gutenberg Bible - over 500 years ago! But over the last 50 years there have
been a dozen paradigm shifts to where we are today, with Print-on-Demand books,
iPad and so many things we take for granted. Hah! Remember when we were
fascinated with Dick Tracy's watch? Compared to our iPhones, Dicky's watch
maker was a piker!

OK, don't be shy - Who will, and What will we deal with in the months to come?
