There are two separate issues here: 1. PAL vs. NTSC 2. Region codes (#2) If you get a copy-protected disk it comes with (among other things) a so-called "region code" that prevents playback in other regions. Region codes (1-7) limit DVD playback to DVD players of the same region code. The DVD Player help in Mac OS X has a full colour explanation of DVD region codes (search for DVD region codes in DVD Player help). Your "home made" DVD will not have the region code limitation. (#1) As for the problem of NTSC vs. PAL -- you will be able to view the DVD just fine on your computer, but I cannot comment on viewing a PAL DVD on an NTSC DVD player!!! In that case you may have to convert the PAL signal to NTSC before burning the DVD. I'm sure the company that you have convert the tape for you will be able to tell you what you can do.
