I'm forwarding your question to the group, with hopes that someone
there might be able to offer suggestions besides mine (to contact
Mostly Digital or check out Costco's Passport).
Sid also mentioned that he is using the iMac (lampshade model) and had
his computer on continuously for months. I don't believe that model
has any fans that cool the computer and wonder if that has contributed
to its early demise - mind you it is an external drive. And if he is
to replace the drive, he wants another external drive but with a good
MTFB.
Here's a discussion regarding the mtbf (Mean time before failure) that
I mentioned.
