HTML e-mail VERY evil! (and I might say something about chronic offenders
too ;-)

It allows the aesthetically challenged to do REALLY bad things with fonts
and colours and subject everyone to their really bad choices (quoting HTML
e-mail is pretty messy). Netscape is THE WORST e-mailer on the planet
because it started this whole HTML in mail nonsense but the others followed
suit. To Microsloth's credit they decided to add a HTML blocker feature in
Outlook Express 6 (for windows) IIRC.

What is irritating is that I have to tell Entourage to discard all HTML code
from e-mails before I read them -- and afterwards formatting is all screwed
up (the strange British language purity prudes would probably bleep this on
TV (bitch or piss get bleeped (weird... of course, Canadian censors are just
as perverted, if not more... though, neither society is as screwed up as the
southern lunatics complaining about a breast on TV <feigned shock>. You can
kill people and show mutilated + nude dead corpses but how dare you show the
human body whilst a person is alive... certain elements in that society have
truly degenerated to one of the sickest in the world (which would explain
why it's also the most violent "developed" country).

The problem is that one person's favourite font is another's bane. I once
had to deal with a secretary who thought that Comic Book (size 8) was an
acceptable font for professional e-mail use. Yeah, right. Perhaps in the
purple little world she lived in.

Usually, HTML e-mails composed by individuals looks hideously
unprofessional. HTML e-mail is fortunately one of those irritating things
that will be relegated to the sidelines. Enough people _really_ don't like
it which means the critical mass needed to quash this really bad idea
exists. If someone's got a good sense of style HTML mail can be good, but in
the MAJORITY of cases people don't have any such skill (which is why good
web page coders can earn a good living and amateurs are, well, amateurs...
need I say more).

Eric.
