Found it - This setting makes your workstation advertise itself on the browse
list as a terminal server
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\TSAdvertise
1=advertise 0=not advertised

Have a look at and compare the HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/current
version key between a couple workstations then and see if any of the values
changed. Chances are it just changed an id on that key. Thanks for your

Yes, the Terminal Service service is running on all 5000 plus of our
workstations, but mine is the only one out of all of these that is showing
up as a Terminal Server in Hyena. Something related to the Terminal Service
has changed, and I can't figure out what.
BTW - I'll keep praying for good court results for you Jim.

The terminal service service is always running on an XP workstation, this is
part of remote desktop.

I was trying out a software firewall (Outpost by Agnitum), and now my XP
workstation is reporting as a Terminal Server. I uninstalled Outpost even
before I found out my machine was doing this. I can't figure out how to
stop my machine from reporting/functioning as a terminal server.
