Yes, all firewalls or routers or switches has a way of unblocking ports. 
Otherwise, what good are they? Don't get a hub. It will slow you down and you 
would be vulnerable to collisions.

Well it's still the question on which router he has because I have a
Linksys, but I'm not sure if the intreface is the same with other
brands.
