Ted, This is not necessarily an XP operating system issue. It sounds more like a hardware issue with either the floppy disk itself or the Floppy disk drive or the Floppy disk controller. You might be able to confirm this by borrowing a bootable floppy from a friend or someone else and trying to boot off that disk. If this works, then issue will be with XP (though I doubt it will work). If not then it will confirm that it is a hardware issue as I mentioned before. You might also want to check BIOS setup for floppy disk. I hope this helps mate. I am trying to create a bootable floppy in XP using the "Create an MS-DOS startup disk" function, but a few moments after I've inserted the floppy I get the following message: "An unexpected I/O error has occurred." Why is this? I read in a forum of someone having a similar problem and he has replaced the floppy drive and cables without correcting the fault. I have Windows XP and 512 megs of Ram. I have an 80 gb HDD, a DVD-ROM, a Ricoh DVD writer and a 40 GB Samsung removable HDD. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Kind Regards, Ted. -------- ================================== To Unsubscribe, set digest or vacation mode or view archives use the below link. http://thethin.net/winxplist.cfm ================================== To Unsubscribe, set digest or vacation mode or view archives use the below link. http://thethin.net/winxplist.cfm
