Today I was helping an elderly Sister who had typed up a letter in Word and went to print it out and the letter came out -except at the end it had those strange boxes that you get when Word cannot open a document. I can't tell you all the steps that led up to it but when I viewed the letter the font had changed to those little boxes [][][][][][][][][] this isn't the exact picture of what I mean just want to get the idea across - the letter printed out fine but all the text in her saved document/letter on screen was replaced with boxes similar to these - like when Word cannot read it - I tried converting to see if I could read it with another program - saved it on a disk to see is it would open differently - nothing seemed to work - can anyone help me figure this out?
