[mso] Word font anomoliy

Friend has a document where they typed text. Ended up the text was
PanRoman. They don't want PanRoman they want Arial. I selected All,
Format, Font, Arial and nothing changes. It appears that the text was
typed in Symbols even though it looks like text. I have no idea how she
did it but I can't change it. Any ideas on how to convert it back to
real text?=20

Hi,
I have a user that created a document questionnaire with forms and
checkboxes etc. Problems she's having is some of the checkboxes are
shown in the document and the printed version shaded, but she's turned
off the shading option on the forms toolbar. She'd like to have them
all appear empty/white with no shading. I took a screenshot of the
document which can be viewed here if this doesn't make any sense.
