I'm a first-timer here. Wonder if anyone can help me on this. A recent Windows Automatic Update screwup (by their admission, it installed SP2 instead of SP4) left behind a nasty little piece of Windows Installer that requires Word 2002. I don't have a disk. Don't even remember ever having Office 2002 at all. It's interfering with my ability to save, delete, copy and even create new file folders. Simply maddening. As I research a fix, it seems I might need to go into the registry to get rid of it, and I'm not anywhere skilled enough to do that. If I had the disk, of course, I could be rid of the problem. Here's what I've tried so far: Looked for a System Restore but can't find it on a menu anywhere. I use Windows 2000. Tried to uninstall from Control Panel, but while Word 2002 is listed, it apparently is not on my hard drive. Windows SP4 is also listed but not on my hard drive. I installed Office 2003 Professional in an attempt to wipe out the 2002 Word. Now the Windows Installer dialog box asking for Word 2002 disk pops up FOUR times instead of the two times before the 2003 installation.
