Karen,

In addition to the other suggestions you have received ... First, I would
say that I don't have experience of the Officejet 6110 but it likely uses
very similar drivers to many other HP inkjet printers. HP inkjets are
inclined to use memory and temporary disk space without telling you much
about it. Your problem _may_ be due to a memory issue. Printer drivers
need to do a great deal of very complicated math to turn the vector font
characters into a bitmap image. If you know about embroidery, it's
something akin to making the square(ish) stitches on a regular canvas
represent the flowing curves of a butterfly or a rose.

If your brochure contains complicated graphics, it _may_be worth having a
look at the printer driver settings. If you have a 'Basics' tab (as my HP
Deskjet 3650 has), then click on the 'Advanced' button. Here you can change
the way that the driver uses memory to construct the dot-image which is sent
to the printer. If it's not the same, then explore all the Advanced options
of the driver to see if there's one that deals with memory.

Another thing which might be affecting it is the actual font used. Is it
one of the standard Windows fonts or one which is commercially available or
is it, perhaps, a freeware font? Some of these are very good but others are
less than satisfactory with their spacing. You might experiment with
changing the font of the offending word (only) to see if this has an effect.
If it does, then I'd advise choosing a different (but similar) font for the
whole document - preferably one which was supplied with Windows or installed
with the HP software or has been bought from a reputable typographic firm.

There are so many variables at work that it is difficult to give a positive
answer, though a sight of the document file (and an indication of where the
problem lies) might help.
