Did you try Dian's suggestions about dropping the graphics acceleration?

She said:

If on a 9x OS system...kick your graphics accelerator down two clicks.
If on NT+ systems, it's the application boost, kick it down one. You'll
find it under the control panel/system/performance...(graphics button if
9x)...

Winn 2000 would fall into the NT+ category

If that doesn't fix it, let's look at some other stuff...like do you
have any addins in Office? Templates? Macros? Try disabling all of them
and see if that fixes it. Since you say it only happens when you try to
close the program, I'm thinking that SOMETHING is still running that
isn't wanting to shutdown, so that makes me think it's an addin or a
macro. (You can find these in your Tools menu)

The only other thing I can think of would be to try reinstalling Office
right over top of itself. Get your Office CD and pop it in and choose
to reinstall Office. Hopefully that will fix it....if not, you may have
to uninstall Office, run the Office 2k eraser utilities, then reinstall
Office (but this should be your LAST resort, so try Dian's suggestion
and my others first)

Good luck..let us know how it goes.

Thank you Linda and Dian for your replies. I did try
using Detect and Repair in WORD. It didn't solve the
problem. Any other ideas? I'm all ears.

BTW, I'm running Windows 2000 if that helps to narrow
down the problem at all.

Thanks again for the help.
