Thanks but not exactly what I meant. I don't want sounds when I receive email. I want to send a sound to someone and have the sound play when the email is opened by that person. I know how to send a sound that the recipient would have to open manually...wanted something automatic. I'd already done a search of Microsoft's Knowledge base but couldn't find anything. Thought all you really smart people might know something. -----Original Message----- From: Renaud, Parker [mailto:PRenaud@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, April 26, 2002 9:40 AM To: 'mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [mso] Re: Sound in Outlook Glenda- In Outlook 2000, go to Tools>Options>E-Mail Options>Advanced E-Mail options, and in the section "When new items arrive", check the "Play a Sound" box. If it still does not play a sound, you need to set up the sound in Windows. (This is a Windows procedure, but it is necessary to answer your Outlook question, so I will risk the WRATH OF LINDA and answer it.) Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel and click on the Sounds icon. Scroll down through the sounds to find "New Mail Notification" and assign a sound to it. The default sound is notify.wav, but you can assign any sound to it.
