============================= Yes. The users are only creating Microsoft Word documents. We are using Word 2000 and Word 97 (I think). It is a legal practice and new documents are created (usually from templates -precedents-). I would ideally like to allow "supervisor(s)" to have full control of the files. But the main thing is to stop the files from being deleted, but allowing creation. I would have thought that this was a straight forward thing and had been addressed many times by others but I have not been able to discover how it can/should be done. ============================= Good luck. Consider this. If you inhibit deletion of Word files (i.e., files of type .doc), you must also inhibit renaming of Word files, else the file could be renamed to a non-Word and then deleted. Also, inhibiting deletion of the file does not inhibit deletion of the contents of the file. Also, this creates problems when attempting to save a new version of the file, since saving a new version means renaming and deleting the old version. All this is possible of course, but it is not a simple system setting. James S.
