[mso] Problems with Excel Pivot Table totalling

This is my first attempt to gain assistance from this group - in the past I
have been happy to lurk (the connotations this engenders beggars belief) simply
because I don't have the time available when at work.

Even so, I have discovered some amazing solutions/hints from the digest version.

Anyhow, now it's time to dive in the deep end (so to speak).

I have assumed responsibility for the management and update of a large amount
of data in MS Excel (V97-SR2)(approx 12,000 lines & growing all the time) which
utilises a pivot table to summarise the data and provide totals.

The problem I have found is that, whilst the data is formatted to 2 decimal
places, some of the pivot table totals can be generated to 10+ decimals. Some
of the totals fields are copied/paste special/values into another worksheet so
that the data can be manipulated and input through another process to update
further records. I have discovered that the decimalisation problems in the
pivot table totals have caused errors in the input of the data at the next
stage.

I have attempted to re-format the total field in the pivot table without
success - there must be a way around this annoying problem.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

As a footnote - I am from the "land down-under" and it is now 05:00 pm on
Friday afternoon. We also have a public holiday on Monday so I will not be
able to respond to any e-mails until Tuesday morning.

Kind Regards
