Yes, it is the latest - same number you quoted Linda. I share the .pst with
Outlook 2002 on the XP side of my dual boot - maybe that has something to do
with it.
Can you tell me more about the new and old versions of the pst?
And no, I haven't run scanpst as I didn't know if it would work with the
2003 features - is there a 2003 version?

It's a bug. I've seen it happen multiple times.
You can try to run Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch. That can recreate
your search folders.

You sure you are using the Technical Refresh version of beta 2 of OL?
Is your PST file the old format or the new Unicode version?
The Unread Mail folder is only a 'virtual' folder, not a real one, and so
there is no mail 'in' it as such.
Have you run scanpst on the PST file?
Have you tried creating a new profile?
