When you turn it off in those folders you wanted, it will be stick
forever like this till you change it.
For current situation about viruses, it will not be matter you got your
preview pane on or not but how well you practice safe computering.

The everlasting dilemma is, if you choke a smurf, what colour does it
turned?

Subject: [mso] How do I handle Outlook2000 email pre-view panes

I just upgraded from Win95 and Outlook98 to Win2000 and the Outlook that
is
in Office 2000. Most things operate in a familiar way. Some don't.

I have noticed that when processing mail from some subfolders in my
inbox, a
preview pane shows. I have heard that this is insecure. On the VIEW menu
I
can select and toggle preview pane and auto preview. What I have been
doing
is turning off (via the VIEW menu) preview pane whenever it shows up. I
always have auto-preview turned off. Am I safe, or am I already
compromised
when the preview pane shows up? If I am compromised by the preview pane,
how
do I ensure that it is always off?

TIA Jim Chapman
