Huh?

The IBM PC was introduced in '81, superseded by the AT in '84.

(I was alive then...)

The PC as we think know it today already existed in the form of the Amiga,
the Mac, the Atari and, to a certain degree, the Commodore 64 in '84. What
was an IBM PC then, though, was a pieceacrap from which the piecesacrap we
use today came. When I think of things in that historical context, his
dating makes sense. What doesn't make sense is how those superior platforms
lost to Intel's glorified traffic light controller for our use today.

Of course, he may have another explanation.<g>
