I must add that I'm really amazed with folks who are constantly wiping their
HDs to clean it out cos' they have so many conflicts.

Granted, I have had to get new HDs a few times due to bad controllers and
HDs that have gone south...but I can't EVER remember reformatting any of my
HDs in 15 yrs to get a "fresh start."

<knock, knock, knock> And I've beta tested, installed TONS of crap on my
systems and done a lot of testing, purposely blow it up with code to test,
etc, etc.

When problems arise, I generally try to find the source and fix it versus
resorting to trashing it all and starting over. Personally, I feel it's a
better way to learn, but I also don't want to go through all that work to
reset everything! Sheesh...what a job THAT would be! Maybe it's cos' I do so
much customization and can't think of having to do all that again...maybe
I'm lazy...maybe I'm lucky to have Greg around to help if things get really
bad...but I just can't see going through all that unless that's the ONLY way
to fix a computer. And in 15 yrs...unless I've been FORCED to redo a system
cos' my HD went belly up and I needed to replace it with a new one...I've
never purposely wiped a drive.

Just wanted to voice my experience on this cos' I think a lot of newbies get
the idea that it's something that needs to be done now and then...and I just
don't feel it's necessary.

I'm not going anywhere Linda!
That's what laptops are for... ;-)

I was hoping to put off the big reinstall until I had my release copy of
Office 2003, but this can't wait any longer!

If MS ever develops a self-repairing registry, I'll kiss Bill Gates' = feet!

Yeah, I see now. You're right Anne, that is pretty strange...

I've been having a few registry related issues to do with Office, and = =3D
after some trolling through the registry found entries going back to =
Office
97 (I'm on 2003 beta)!
So the big job for the next couple of days is to blow away my whole Win =
=3D XP install and start from scratch!

Hopefully, all will be ironed out with Office 2003 !

Regards
