Robert....try this....open a brand new blank document and follow my
directions here EXACTLY:

If this works, then you will know you are doing it correctly and there's
something else going on....however, if you are doing it differently than
these instructions, that could be your problem. Let us know if this works.
And...PLEASE put the Program name in your subject line...Styles are used in
many Office programs, not just Word, so the Word gurus may not have even
read this post.

I have assembled a document that I would like to make a table of contents
for. I +thought+ I knew how to make a table of contents already, but the
styles I try to apply will not stick. Could I be locked out from changing
styles somehow?
If I highlight the title, and click "Heading 1" the font changes, but when I
go to build the actual table, it says "Error. No table of contents found."
I would appreciate suggestions, as this needs to be given to someone Monday.
