Thanks for the info James. However, because I'll REALLY be doing all the
calculations and data input through VBA from Word...I think I'm going to
just change the way the DB displays the info. This was mostly for display
purposes and the users won't really be using the DB itself. So I'll
manipulate it through the original code and worry about figuring this out
later, cos' I'm running out of time. Thanks so much...I WILL figure this
out...soon!

For now, I don't want to tempt fate by adding too much code here and there.

Dian ~

Dian,

If you look on your form's (or control's) property screen there is a tab for
Events. What you can do is write a VBA procedure that will kick off when
you update the field. This way you can populate additional fields based on
the one just updated.

Thanks for the info, James. Yes, Beth Melton also checked it out for me and
the concatenation thing sounds very familiar with how I once did it before.
I WISH I could find the DB I created several years ago that was very similar
to this, but it's off on some archive CD and I wasn't able to find it first
pass, so figured it might be faster to find out how to do it again.

As for the other part...Beth mentioned that I need to run a query to get the
price to show up. I'll have to think about that one when my brain is back to
this issue tomorrow. But what do you mean with your statement above? What's
an "after update event?" Do you mean a VBA procedure? Or is there some
feature/option to do what you're talking about? If you could provide me a
little more detail on that one, I'd appreciate it.

(And sorry it took me so long to get back to this...this week is nuts with
my daughter letting me know she's moving back home this week!<sigh>...and
Greg flying off to Ohio to visit his folks. Which is why I'm sleepless in
Chicago tonight! He had a little engine trouble on the way out...so I'm
going nuts trying to think straight until he's safely home tomorrow!!)

Cheers!

Dian,

You have a couple of options to accomplish what you want.

The first option is to simply concatenate your fields in the source for your
drop down. Then they will be displayed each time. This works but is
probably not the best option in your case.

The second option, and mush more sound with what you are doing, is to add an
additional field on your new table to list the price at the time of sale.
Then when you make your selection in the combo box, you use an after update
event to update that field with current data. This will allow you to view
both the product name and the price when the sale was made.

Hopefully this gets you going on the right track. If not, try to guide me
more in the direction of what you are thinking and I will do my best to try
to get you there.

Okay...here are some screen shots. Pls realize that part of the problem is
that I don't know what the problem is here! So if there's more info that
would help, please let me know (Ray...or anyone who knows the Access GUI
better than *I* do!)

Again, the problem here is that I can easily join up and pull whatever data
I need to display in a Word form or ASP page, but trying to demo the
relationships through the tables to explain this process to someone is
making me nuts. And it's something I need to do/understand...so I can
explain it to others.

TIA...
