I just received my information and form to complete for my insurance. It also states that I must have not only Medicare parts A and B, but the part D also for drug and prescriptions. Even with Humana I don’t have to have Part D. It’s my understanding you have to pay for that too. So I’ll be calling Retirement myself to get this straightened out. Sounds like retiring with the state has gone way downhill. Vickie Rolison From: Fred Wurtzel Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2014 8:22 PM To: msb-alumni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [msb-alumni] Re: O. T. Medical insurance. Hi Rich, Well, have you talked to the Michigan retirement people? I think Blue Cross will cover you if Medicare doesn't. I am not an expert, but I had strictly Blue Cross for quite a few years before Medicare kicked in. Blue Cross covered everything before Medicare. I had, and am still having problems with Social Security. At 1 point, they almost discontinued my Medicare. Blue Cross would have covered the things that Medicare was supposed to if they would have suspended my Medicare, according to the state benefits people. These things are so confusing. I never am totally sure who does what. You get different answers from different people. There must be a solution to all this mess. Not sure if I can do anything, but let me know and I will try, since I am here in Lansing, I may be able to go to an office or something for you. T. Medical insurance. OK, Vicki Rolison says there are smart people on this list? OK smart people I have a problem. In 2009 I discontinued my part b and medicare since I was gonna be on my wifes insurence. She retired last march and cobra runs out in October. In July I wanted to reinstate the medicare part b. They said I can't since I waited to long after my wife retired. You have to do it with in 8 months of retirement. Since she retired in March of 2013 I blew that. I can't get medicare until January and it won't start until July of 2015. All other insurence takes 6 months to start. I can't even get insurence through my retirement from vending in michigan because I don't have parts a and b medicare. I do have part a so at least there's that. I'm putting this out there so no one else makes the same mistake. After september I'll have no insurence at age 62. I really screwed up.To send a message, msb-alumni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe to the list, send an email to: msb-alumni-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subscribe in the subject line.
