Wow! I don’t get that the Michigan Retirement system won’t give you insurance because you don’t have Part A or rather Part B, Medicare. I just requested the forms I need to get my retirement benefits back, and they never asked me about whether I had Medicare of any kind. So, it shouldn’t matter for you either, since you’re on the same system we all are. And, you’re on the DB system, not the DC. I sure hope Fred or one of us can fix that. I talked with Brenda who has worked there for 37 years, when I called last week. I told her that I thought she was the main one I worked with at the Retirement office for all you operators. She only said that she helped a lot of people retire. So, she also had to look on my file, and told me to submit my paperwork and remind them to change my status regarding this DB and DC stuff. So, maybe you should try again. Hopefully you won’t need medical insurance between the time you lose Linda’s Cobra until you get this all straightened out. You’ve been through so much already. Enough is enough if you know what I mean. Or maybe you can get Medicaid to cover in the meanwhile, through Obama care. OK smart people I have a problem. In 2009 I discontinued my part b and medicare since I was gonna be on my wifes insurence. She retired last march and cobra runs out in October. In July I wanted to reinstate the medicare part b. They said I can't since I waited to long after my wife retired. You have to do it with in 8 months of retirement. Since she retired in March of 2013 I blew that. I can't get medicare until January and it won't start until July of 2015. All other insurence takes 6 months to start. I can't even get insurence through my retirement from vending in michigan because I don't have parts a and b medicare. I do have part a so at least there's that. I'm putting this out there so no one else makes the same mistake. After september I'll have no insurence at age 62. I really screwed up.To send a message, msb-alumni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe to the list, send an email to: msb-alumni-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with subscribe in the subject line.
