Oh my God Fred you guys did a lot of the same things that we did when we went
up to our cabin well my stepdad died about a year ago and it is now in my
brothers possession and I don’t know what they are going to do with it but we
don’t go up there anymore but yes we used to swing on the rope swing they had
it tied to a big tree right by the river bank and I remember my brother used to
swing out and let them cells fall into the river and I will never forget the
time that my brother put a shotgun in my hands and he help me line it up as
they say and he let me shoot a beer can off of a stump wow that thing had quite
some kick to it but was it ever It was a lot of fun. And I remember I used to
go fishing with my brother at night right at dusk we go to the river and he
cashed his line he never caught any fish but I sure caught mosquitoes LOL what
fun times I miss those days. Anytime you want to share some of those
experiences that you had as a kid please feel free to do so I really do enjoy
hearing about them brings back a lot of memories of what we did when we went to
our cabin. We would have bonfires and stuff too and it was really cool like I
said, I really miss all of that but now we are older and don’t do that kind of
stuff anymore.
No I guess you’re a little dog isn’t so little LOL actually, she’s about the
size of my bulldog my small smallest bulldog that is Patsy who weighs about 45
pounds now my male bulldog Bentley is about 6570 pounds they are great dogs I
love them Bentley is seven almost and Patsy will be too. We had Bentley in a
couple of dog shows when he was younger and he did great the judges loved him.
And he loved being in the dog shows but we had to take him out because my
mother got sick and I could not find a handler for him let aloneLet alone
anyone to take me to the dog shows but I really loved it it was great I really
enjoyed talking to all of the different people and seeing their dogs and
meeting the different judges and listening to the competitions of the various
breeds of dogs it was great. Well keep enjoying your neighborhood walks and
listening to the birds in the other critters and

Hi Tony and Peggy thanks for your response. Peggy actually my dog is not
very little she’s more like a medium size dog 45 to 50 pounds. Her name is
Stacy and I got her through the Humane Society of Missouri two years ago
after losing two dogs. My daily walks used to be with two dogs one on each
arm. It was so much fun lady and Daisy they both died two years ago, lady in
February and Daisy in April. Lady will always be my favorite. Yes northern
Michigan is lots and lots of fun at night. I can remember hearing deer up
there and turkeys and chipmunks as well when I was a kid the other kids that
would be up at our cabin would follow me out into the woods because they knew
I wasn’t going to run into a tree. Ha ha we used to go out and collect wood
for the fire. Always a fire in the evenings. We had a circle of rocks about 2
feet wide and spent a lot of time around it drinking sodas ha ha beer when we
got older. We also had a swing on a tree. And lots of good cold well water.
Hope you
all have a nice day Fred

Good morning Fred, thanks for sharing your morning walk yesterday with your
dog I felt as though I were walking that that walk with you and your little
dog. I too love nature and I love to be out in it as much as I can. When we
were kids we used to go camping all the time and when my mom and stepdad got
married of course the his family cabin became our cabin in the woods on the
Asaba river up in Luzern which is just outside of mile in northern Michigan
and I used to love to go through the woods and listen to the various birds
and at night we would listen to the coyotes and some of the other animals
and And yes, there are even bears up there. And I’ve heard a bear before two
and turkeys lots of turkeys. It sounds like you were living in a very nice
area in St. Louis and I am glad that everything is going well for you and I
know you enjoy those walks keep it up you’re a little dog loves them too I
wish I could get out more but unfortunately my guide dog Ginger Cano longer

e she’s 13 1/2 years old and she is not doing well I’m sure within a fewu
months I will be making a decision to have her put down and I do have two
English Bulldogs in though And though they are not eager to go on walks I
would love to take them just the same but don’t have enough leashes. Well
anyway thank you so much for sharing I really enjoyed it you really made my
day. Peggy and Yats.

Every day I get up between five and six in the morning. Well I should say
most days yesterday I didn’t get up until after seven. It was a quiet
Sunday morning. My street used to be quite busy, but what with the stay at
home restrictions we are having here in St. Louis, it has become somewhat
of a quiet street with busy times between 2 and 5 PM and maybe in the
mornings depending on the day.
When I get up I feed my dog let her out in the backyard and then when she
comes back in we go for a walk. It is her happy time of the day. She’s so
looks forward to her walk. It’s almost amazing. She comes in and bounces
around the house as if to say well are you going to take me for my walk???
So I put on her leash stick my cane in my pocket and off we go.
Yesterday on our walk, it was a beautiful morning with temperatures near 60
already. It has been a very nice spring here in St. Louis, this morning for
example the temperatures are in the 50s and we are supposed to get rain
later, but it has not been a hot spring which is usually the case. St.
Louis is almost unbearable in the summer, sometimes I think the trees are
actually sweating because it gets so hot during the day.
A couple years ago, when I was living in an apartment, I would swear that
the pine trees were sweating because of the smell of this app during the
hot summer evenings. The locusts down here are almost deafening at times.
They are I think probably bigger than the ones in Michigan and there are
more of them. Similar to the ones you might find in Florida or Georgia or
South Carolina. I digress.
Anyway, yesterday on our walk, I always listen to the birds. I love to hear
the birds. They wake early sometimes around 2:30 in the morning as I have
said before Robin‘s first then Cardinals then the sparrows. So we were
walking down the street and I was just enjoying the quiet and I heard this
Robin or robins in a tree ahead of me so I slow down.
As I listened to the bird/birds, not sure if there was one or two at first
it sounded like one of them was learning how to sing the Robbins song.
Robins have a very distinct song, once you hear it you will remember it and
enjoy it, they especially enjoy singing after a good rain. Anyway I was
listening to this bird/birds sing one to another and then I walked up to
the tree and stopped and remained quiet. My dog stood there looking around
and I was enjoying the birds singing. In a couple of minutes I continued my
walk for another 50 feet or so and decided it was time to return home for
my coffee. I turned around and came back to the tree at this point there
was only one Robin in the tree and so I stopped and listened again. I don’t
believe the Robin could have been more than about 18 inches from my nose.
That’s how close I was to it and I’m not sure that the bird even knew that
I was there because it was so busy singing and enjoying the day. It
continue to sing for another co

a nice picture or perhaps a video, a Robin singing in a tree I thought
about it for a moment and decided that if I moved one way or another to get
my phone out and take a picture or video that the Robyn would sense my
presence and fly away. I must have been right, because as I turned to go to
Robin flew from the tree thus ending the sequence of events which I will
probably remember for the rest of my life. It was just a fun moment and a
very enjoyable experience. I enjoy nature so much all the different birds,
And when I’m in the woods I am especially listening to hear animals in the
underbrush etc. Thanks for allowing me to share, have a great day Fred Olver
