Oh yah!!!! My brother has promised me that he would make me some of that good
smoked venison jerky this fall. He’d better! hahahaha lol.

Peg,
Thanks for all the references to some of my favorite smoked foods. Love smoked
fish, turkey and venison. Love that fresh beef jerky that you can get from the
place that does it in Cedar, Michigan. I haven’t had that in years.

Oh Steve,
I know all about that smoker kind of cooking. Yes, the gas grill is nice, but
we really missed that outdoors kind of taste with the slightly smoky taste that
you get in your food when you use charcoal or the soaked wood chips or chunks.
We got rid of our gas grill because they can be quite a hazzard (especially for
a blind person) and I don’t like handling tanks of propane or other gas anyway.
I just don’t trust them and you hear on the news especially during the summer
months about people being severely burned and or their houses burning down
because of an explosion do to a gas grill that was left unattended. We bought a
charcoal grill/smoker at the Home Depot a couple of years ago and we love it. I
also bought a Masterbuilt smoker from QVC which Ii s electric, and I love that.
Right now though, one of my brothers has borrowed it and I think it has lost
its way back home because I have not seen it in almost a year now. He uses it
to smoke the fish that he catches as well as the venison that he gets every
deer season. And I loved smoked turkey. Pork chops in the smoker are awesome.

Gas grills are convenient, but you don't get the charcoal flavor. I do get a
bit more smoke by buying wood chips and dampen them, then wrapping them in foil
that you cut some slits in. If you cook with the lid closed, you can get some
nice smoke

It was very nice on the deck. A grilled steak would’ve been very nice though.
I’m kicking around getting the Optigrill, but I’ve not been satisfied with an
indoor grill, the good grill flavor just isn’t there.
For transparency, I’ve not owned one, but I’ve had somethings that were grilled
on even a gas grill, which were disappointing.
Glad the Tigers won this afternoon, even though Jordan Zimmerman and Miguel
Cabrera were hurt.

Yup, gonna fire up the grill; got some Porterhouses marinating; going to get
