Thanks Steve for the advice. I have a tracker breeze GPS system which I really
like and I plan on taking that down to Leader with me. I also have a GPS app on
my phone that I sometimes use and I agree the GPS really does help.

Peg,
One thing that helps me, and it is kind of stupid to admit this since I was a
great traveler, is that I now use a Gps more often. You can get something
like "Nearby Explorer" for the iPhone and a pair of bone conducting
headphones which won't block your hearing.
Maybe as I get older, and more forgetful, it is nice to know that it can
guide you almost right to the door of a business and let you know what
intersections you are approaching and how far they are from you.

Leaving for Leader Dogs in just a few days.
Hi all, in just a few days I will be leaving for Leader Dogs List. I will be
leaving on Sunday and returning on Friday the 28th. No! I am not going for a
new dog that has been put on hold for a while longer. I am going down to
take the mobility course with the cane. I figure since I am not able to get
my dog right now, I may as well learn all I can using the cane since I will
be using that for sometime I'm afraid. I am a little nervous, but I know
this is a good thing and I know that it won't be as bad as it seems right
now. As much as I hate using the cane, I want to learn the safest ways of
using it so that I can navigate through and around my town without worrying
about whether I am going to be safe or not. And, that will in increase my
chances of getting a new dog once I double give them the to go the go ahead
to start training another dog. Please if you would keep me in your thoughts
and prayers I will let you all know how it all works out when I return home.
Peggy and retired
later dog Ginger class of 1970.
