You're right on all counts, but Randy graduated before I joined Band. Paul does contribute on an in-house list serve, even though he's retired.

Randy Formenti was the other cornet player; Paul Hunt played clarinet. He
used to be on this list but isn't any longer. He is living in Texas and I
think he may have retired from the IRS.

Mr. Manley taught me organ (Hammond) in 1969. Marcie, that was a dynamite clarinet section in 1970; Sandy Gomoll, Carol Dougherty, Paul Hunt, Sue Marsh and You. The coronet section was just as great; Al Stevens, Reggie Scharick '''. Oh, I think Paul played coronet and also Donna Saylors played clarinet. Irene VanBelleghan was our flautist extraordinaire.

They did have an oboe. It was broken. I would have liked to learn how to
play one in school. That was my favorite reed instrument. I played the
clarinet. I started taking clarinet in 7th grade and never got to be in
the marching band. I got to go to one band rehearsal that year and
played Sempre Fidelus. I joined the band because my mom said she had a
wonderful time in the band and I played clarinet because my aunt had one
and I wanted to play an instrument we had available to me. I loved being
in the band and the orchestra. I remember wishing I could have been good
enough to play in the band in college and being jealous every time I
passed the music hall in college or heard the band practicing marching.
That's how I ended up taking classical guitar lessons because I was
starved for playing music.
Terry said that Mr. Manly taught drums. He taught Terry accordion. It
was not before Mr. Chard came to be the band director.

I started out on snare drums moved to base drum & symbols. I started
learning French horn but stayed with drums. I wish I had of taken piano when
it was offered to me in second grade but I wanted guitar & there wasn't
anymore openings. Back then the beattles were the craze & everyone wanted to be a rock star. Also my dad & uncle played guitar. Since school I have taken a few guitar lessons, harp lessons & learned a little about the keyboard. In
school I was also in bell ringers.

Peg, I remember! You were next to Marcie and I sat next to Al Swain.
Remember the following year, when we were so small that Charlotte filled
in the part with a Yamaha organ? I think we only had nine in the band and

we still had a music tour n with the orchestra.

I know I was in the orchestra pit in 1969 for the graduation, so somebody
played. Maybe somebody can figure this out.

The bandit not play at the 1969 graduation ceremony. So it must happen in

1967 or 1968.

Hello Steve,
Yes, it is your fellow (or should I say lady?) band mate and yes, I did
play
cymbols hahahaha lol. That big ol' bass drum too.
What good old days those were eh? We were all just wet behind the ears
kids
and didn't have a care in the world right? And now look at us all.
Yes, my e-mail says yates but that is the way my friend Billy Malone set

it
up. My last name is still spelled Yats however.
Thank-you so much for welcoming me to this awesome list. I know I am
going
to love being here.
And oh yes, I am very sad today with the news of Larry's passing. He was
such a sweetheart and in my own way, I did love him. More than he will
ever
know.

What sad news about Larry.

And, welcome to the list cymbal player from a fellow percussionist. I
wondered who the pyates was that subscribed to the list. I was thinking
Keith Yates, but it is Yats although the email says yates.

Hi John,
I too am in shock at the news of Larry's death. Karla also called me
last evening and told me the news. My heart is heavy today with such
sad news.

Hi all, I just got this info from Karla Fields, but she doesn't know
any
more at the moment! Larry Yanchus, class of 70, was found dead either
yesterday or today, by his sister Lynn! As I said, nothing else is
known
at this time, but as soon as I find out any details, I will let you all
know! Frankly, I am still in shock!

take care:
John
