I had mentioned to some folks that I would be riding, but I have decided
my riding time has been too low to have me in shape for a tough (ie,
slow) 50 miler. But I am sending Robin (some of you met her at the
party yesterday) on one of my horses (call name "Blondie"), so if you
see her riding say hi. :>

Subject: [mountainmilers] Fire Dept race and Man vs. Horse update

Just wanted to pass along that Dave Essex (race director for the FD race
on October 15th) is stressed because the entries are low so far for the
race. If you plan to run - hope you can enter soon.

I talked to Ron Barrett today who said the course for Man vs. Horse is
pretty much ready with a few markings still to be done. I asked him to
flatten the mountain and he refused my request. He told me that entries
are pretty high this year as rumors abound that this could be the last
year for the race. Ron was pretty non-committal on that subject but he
said this has been another tough year and this is the last year that
Gabby's doing the food. It would be a shame to lose this race.

I assume Dana, Tandi and Shawna are running and Mark told me he would
try to fit this race in between 100 milers the weekend before and after
(again - I am pretty sure that the sun in Phoenix has affected Mark!).
Kam, Deborah and Steve are volunteering (thank you and of course be sure
and tell me how fresh I look at miles 16 and 32). Dan and Julie could
be there too?
