The Lord said to him, "Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of
the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with plunder and evil. You
fools! Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside? But as to what
is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you." ~Luke
11:37-41

Outside beauty does not always translate to beauty on the inside. Jesus knew
that very well. The Pharisees worked hard to look good externally, but
inside were filled with evil and plunder. They needed to repent, forget
themselves, and then reach out to make things better for others. When that
was practiced and became natural, it would provide beauty on the inside as
well.

I pray that I may concentrate more on internal beauty than external
appearance. I pray that I may forget myself and look after the needs of
those around me. I pray that this will bring me closer to the Lord and
provide a good example for those around me as well.

A member requests prayers for a friend whose newly adopted 3 week old baby
boy has glaucoma and is undergoing treatment to save his eyesight at
Children's Hospital. Mother asks Jesus to heal daughter who is having
surgery for possible ovarian surgery at Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital.
Henry asks prayers for a friend who has just been diagnosed with kidney
cancer that her therapy will be initiated soon and will be effective.

Bill asks for prayers that God's will be done in a decision to be made soon.
Karen asks prayers for herself as she is having surgery on Wednesday. Jane
requests prayers for her niece who is being treated for acute leukemia.
Susan asks prayers for a special intention. Holly asks prayers for two
special intentions.

Bridget asks prayers for two special intentions. Kathy prays for relief from
gallbladder pain & seeks answer to lead her to the right surgeon.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat

Newly written each day by Father Pat Umberger. Morning Prayer may not be
published by others, but is a good resource for preachers and those who attend
Daily Mass, and those who would like to keep up with the Lectionary Readings
and are not always able to attend Daily Mass.
