St. Rose of Viterbo (1233-1251)
Rose achieved sainthood in only 18 years of life. Even as a child Rose had a
great desire to pray and to aid the poor. While still very young, she began
a life of penance in her parents' house. She was as generous to the poor as
she was strict with herself. At the age of 10 she became a Secular
Franciscan and soon began preaching in the streets about sin and the
sufferings of Jesus. For more, follow the link below:

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you considers himself wise in
this age, let him become a fool, so as to become wise. For the wisdom of
this world is foolishness in the eyes of God. ~1 Corinthians 3:18-23

Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching
men." When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him. ~Luke 5:1-11

How much better things go when we rely on the wisdom of God rather than the
wisdom of the world. When we truly follow God's call, that example catches
the attention of those around us. Many wonder where we get this courage and
want to follow the same path. Jesus, in today's Gospel, gives fishing advice
to fishermen. He tells them that they'll use the same skills they used in
fishing to catch men. And they left everything and followed Him.

I pray that I may reject the wisdom of the world and follow the wisdom of
God. I pray that, when people follow my example, they may follow a path that
leads them to God.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat

"Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10

Newly written each day by Father Pat Umberger. Morning Prayer may not be
published by others, but is a good resource for preachers and those who attend
Daily Mass, and those who would like to keep up with the Lectionary Readings
and are not always able to attend Daily Mass.
