St. Lawrence Ruiz and Companions (1600?-1637) Lawrence (Lorenzo) was born in Manila of a Chinese father and a Filipino mother, both Christians. Thus he learned Chinese and Tagalog from them and Spanish from the Dominicans whom he served as altar boy and sacristan. He became a professional calligrapher, transcribing documents in beautiful penmanship. He was a full member of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary under Dominican auspices. Jesus wants us to let the light of our faith shine so others may be illuminate too, when they see that light in us. In our first reading from the book of Proverbs we are called to be just and humble. We are told that the house of the wicked is cursed and that He is stern with the arrogant. We can heed this warning, then let the light of our faith shine! .=: P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y :=. I pray that I may act justly and live with humility. I pray that I may allow the light of my faith to shine, for my own salvation and to help those around me find salvation as well. .=: W E P R A Y :=. We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a good day! May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!
