St. Juan Diego (1474-1548)
Thousands of people gathered in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe July
31, 2002, for the canonization of Juan Diego, to whom the Blessed Mother
appeared in the 16th century. Pope John Paul II celebrated the ceremony at
which the poor Indian peasant became the Church's first saint indigenous to
the Americas. I was a Concelebrant at that special Mass! For more about
Saint Juan Diego, click the link below:

Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down
with the kid; the calf and the young lion shall browse together, with a
little child to guide them. ~Isaiah 11:1-10

John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the desert of Judea and saying,
"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" It was of him that the
prophet Isaiah had spoken when he said: A voice of one crying out in the
desert, Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths. ~Matthew
3:1-12

Isaiah's dream can come true, as the "wolf shall be the guest of the lamb."
When there is true justice, then people have no interest in fighting or
dominating. We can follow John the Baptist's call to turn back to God and
away from our sinfulness. When there is justice, then there can be peace!

I pray that I may turn away from selfishness and sinfulness and back to God.
I pray that I may act justly with those around me and begin to build peace.

Brian, from New Jersey requests prayers for several intentions that need
Divine Healing. Cynthia asks prayers for her husband who has cancer. Toni
asks prayers for a special intention. Pam asks prayers for her daughter who
needs God's help to do better in school.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat

"Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10

Newly written each day by Father Pat Umberger. Morning Prayer may not be
published by others, but is a good resource for preachers and those who attend
Daily Mass, and those who would like to keep up with the Lectionary Readings
and are not always able to attend Daily Mass.
