St. John Chrysostom (d. 407)
The ambiguity and intrigue surrounding John, the great preacher (his name
means "golden-mouthed") from Antioch, are characteristic of the life of any
great man in a capital city. Brought to Constantinople after a dozen years
of priestly service in Syria, John found himself the reluctant victim of an
imperial ruse to make him bishop in the greatest city of the empire.
Ascetic, unimposing but dignified, and troubled by stomach ailments from his
desert days as a monk, John began his episcopate under the cloud of imperial
politics. For more, follow the link below:

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the Blood of
Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the Body of
Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one Body, for
we all partake of the one loaf. ~1 Corinthians 10:14-22

That one is like a man building a house, who dug deeply and laid the
foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house
but could not shake it because it had been well built. ~Luke 6:43-49

The Lord is our rock! The Eucharist is our center. Because the loaf of bread
is one, we, though many, are one body. Our strength is our union with each
other, through our union with Christ. In this way we build our house on
rock. Nothing can budge it. And we build a house that will last forever.

I pray that I may appreciate my oneness with those around me, centered in
the most holy Eucharist. I pray that I may build my house on rock, a house
that will last forever.

We pray for unity in our country and that we may build a Culture of Life. We
pray for the safety of our troops, their safe return and their families at
home. We pray for a deep and profound respect for life, and for the courage
and willingness to stand up for life. We pray for one another, for those who
have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most. Have a
good day!

May God Bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

Father Pat
