The Stem Cell Transplant yesterday (Friday) went just fine. I was at the
Hospital for a four hour IV, then the stem cells, then another four hour IV.
The only discomfort was a feeling of warmth, a flushed feeling, and a wee
bit of wooziness. I won't feel the effects of the Chemo very much until a
few more days go by. And it will take the new stem cells some time to
engraft. So some unpleasantness is ahead, but all can be accomplished one
day at a time! Read much more at my blog, updated every day at:

Most Holy Name of Jesus
In a world of fiercely guarded corporate names and logos, it should be easy
to understand this feast. The letters IHS are an abbreviation of Jesous, the
Greek name for Jesus.
Although St. Paul might claim credit for promoting devotion to the Holy Name
because Paul wrote in Philippians that God the Father gave Christ Jesus
"that name that is above every name" (see 2:9), this devotion became popular
because of 12th-century Cistercian monks and nuns but especially through the
preaching of St. Bernardine of Siena, a 15th-century Franciscan.

See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the
children of God. Yet so we are. ~1 John 2:29-3:6

I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will
baptize with the Holy Spirit.' Now I have seen and testified that he is the
Son of God." ~John 1:23-34

What a privilege it is to be called children of God. Yet that is what we
are. And as loving children we can point the way to the Father as Jesus
did. John too, knew that his only mission was to point the way to the one
"who will baptize with the Holy Spirit." As John the Baptist says, "Now I
have seen and testified that He is the Son of God."

Today I can see myself as a child of God, for that is what I am. I can live
this day in the Lord's gentleness and with His compassion. I need not say,
"Is that all there is to Christmas?" I can rather point the way to the
mystery of Christ's Incarnation through the way I live my life. Like John,
my life this day can point to the Father!

I pray that I may always seek the truth. I pray that I may be grateful for
John the Apostle, his privileged relationship with Jesus and all he shares
with us about God, His love for us and His call for us to love one another.

We pray for the justice that leads to lasting peace, and for the willingness
to stand up for and defend life. We pray for all those being called to
Church vocations, that they may be willing to respond generously.

Keep me in your prayers and know you are remembered in mine as well. May
God continue to bless you and those you love, and keep you safe!

~Be still and know that I am God." ~Psalm 46:10
