Hi all,
I found a more extensive page at www.nextup.com containing samples of all
the voices they sell. The Nuance voices, formerly ScanSoft, will only work
when one purchases TextAloud from them. However, one can listen to all the
samples on their site, I find the Nuance quite nice, indeed, and since I'm
planning on purchasing TextAloud, that issue won't be a problem with me. I
understand that these sapi voices will work with Window Eyes as well, but
I'm sure, like all high quality voices, they may be a little bit sluggish
for everyday, editing purposes. In any event, you can go to
http://www.nextup.com/TextAloud/SpeechEngine/voices.html to take a listen.
The table there is extensive, and the Nuance voices are at the bottom. One
can also e-mail them to clarify before making any purchasing attempts with
them, as to whether the voices will work with your system and what are the
requirements for purchasing these voices. It may also be true that these
voices can be purchased elsewhere, maybe for less, and I understand from a
friend that the Nuance voices come as a part of Jaws 8.
