Hi Suzy, Tony and all,

Can you explain to me where to find this .ini file you mentioned? Is there also one for the item field, category and sub-category. I'm a bit of a dunce moving about the windows environment. Used to be able to work with DOS very well.

This brings up a notion for a possible fix, if one wants to call it that, in the MT program. Specifically can MT be designed so that if one looses their lists of items in the list boxes, can MT be set up so as to automatically create a backup of all lists every time a change is made in payee/payer, item, category or sub-category? Then can the user have a way to easily import these lists into the program through one of the menus? This is assuming that these .ini files are the culprit. Maybe MT can be made to do this in the background without the user being aware?

Any notions?

TIA

Steve

Tony,

Using the latest release of Money Talks, I have occasionally lost my entire
list of payees. The categories have always remained, but after working with
two different accounts in Money talks and closing the program, the payees
will be gone, when I next open it.
Unfortunately, the issue is not 100% reproducible. My current work-around is
to save a copy of my PayNames.ini file as a .txt file about once a month. If
I can reproduce this issue with the current beta, I will be sure to send
step-by-step instructions to the list, so others can try and reproduce it,
too.

Like you, I use Money Talks with JAWS.

Suzy

Steve

When I do a ctrl T I start typing the first few letters of the payee I
want. Before if it had been put in previously it would come up
automatically. Now Jaws just says it is a list box with zero entries.
Thanks for any help.

When you do a control-t to enter a new payment and immediately arrow down, are you getting nothing at all? Are you getting a list in the payee/payer field when using your regular screen reader and turning the MT speech off?

I have a question I hope someone can answer. I went into my account
this
morning to add some transactions and everything went fine. I exited
out
and went back in later on to add another one, however, this time when
I
went to put a payee in which should have been in the list it was gone
along with all the others. I had about 50 payees in my list. Also all
my
categories are gone. Any help would be appreciated.

I like Steve's idea of being able to transfer portions of splits. He described it very well, in my opinion.
