Yes. I can no longer post to debian-user, although I can still read
the posts of others.

Which is probably a favor to me, because since then, I've spent my
time and energy time finding alternatives rather than trying to
convince the Debian community that they should not include something
that looks more an April Fools joke than system software.

It looks like, for me personally, the worst case is going to be
PCBSD. I won't need to get a Mac. It's entirely likely I can do even
better than the worst case. There are many, many better alternatives
that may be possible, including my procuring the ability to install a
minimal init like s6, nosh, perp, runit, and the like on any distro or
BSD that I want.

And of course, there's the intriguing idea of Gobo Linux, which I
haven't yet had success with, but I really like the ideas behind it.
