So sad that such an engineer as Peter can be drawn in by a bit of brasswork.
Everyone knows that the most succsessfull design was a black five, go
anywhere and do anything, just that the GW wouldn't let Stanier build it! He
had to come to the LMS and learn about Black Pudding and decent beer, look
what an education does for you, after all, not long after the Duchess
appeared, much more graceful than a King, that's why it was a she!.
Hope to see you on the SVR Peter, we hope to be running Feb/March if we have
a decent winter. Will look forward to that pint, might even take you roung
the yard and on a western bucket!!

Dave.

No, but it was back in the 1980's when she did it.

We did hope to visit the SVR for the 20th anniversary, but it didn't work
out......maybe the 25th next year.

If we can mange it, I'll let you know Dave, so we can maybe meet up and
I'll buy you a pint. Even though you're one of those people who should
feel honoured to be allowed on a GWR loco!
