You say the joints seem steam tight, are you sure there is no air being
drawn in from anywhere, I have had this trouble with 12" and model injectors
because air is seeping in. Remember, it doesn't take much to partially
destroy a vacuum in the injector body and this will cause the injector to
waste water/ not pick properly.

No experience with model injectors but I can say that the symptoms are the
same in 12" to the foot as what I have observed when others have left the
clack valves turned off when on the Festiniog engines.

Not that I have ever done that of course. :-)

Have you tried the injector with the outlet to the clack disconnected? If it
works then the clack will be the place to start.

I know, an old chestnut!

I am babysitting a locomotive for a person who is emigrating, it is a
The operation was the same in all cases, water on, steam on, the symptom
in all cases is excessive overflow. There is a slight "twitter" as the
steam is first applied, but that soon goes and the overflow continues.
Adjustment of steam and water has no effect.
