In order of preference:
Mac Tools
Snap-on (only if Mac doesn’t have what I need)
(I have a lot of Snap-on, great tools but expensive)
Husky from Home Depot-good for medium duty
Harbor Freight good for occasional or one time use (don’t buy for mission
critical applications)
Independent tools trucks and stores are great, have some great stuff with good
warranties, but can be difficult to get replacements.
All the above have lifetime warranty:
Mac and Snap-on require truck to get replacement, sometimes special order so
you have to wait.
Husky requires they you send broken tools in for repair replacement, unless you
have a cool relationship with a store manager.
Harbor freight replaces in store if in stock.
Lowe’s and Ace Hardware now carries craftsman, but seems to be all the cheaper
stuff, not the Made in USA stuff you could get at Sears. Not sure about
replacement, however they still have lifetime warranty.
Gearwrench makes good stuff, but harder to find stuff you need.
Matco is over-priced mostly rebranded stuff.

Anyone have any brand recommendations for ratchets and hand tools? I haven't
bought any in years (decades? oh my god) and find myself needing to buy some.
I don't know what brands worth buying anymore. Willing to pay decent coin for
good quality.
Thanks!
