Congrats on the new gig, and best wishes for the long-term-plan!!
I too am seeing retirement looming large on the forward view screen - and by
'looming' I mean in the next 10-odd years. I'm an over-planner with OCD and ASD
- so "snap decision" isn't generally in my lexicon... It took me nearly 6
months to pick my last new car - databases and logic tables take time to
construct, populate, implement, and sift.
I wish I was kidding about that. But such is the neurological hand I was dealt.

So, anyhoo, I am also looking for a place in the PNW to slap down a home and
shop, something with up-to double-digit acreage, high ground, sprawling vistas,
low-to-no taxes, favorable gun laws, and clear fields of fire. :-D And by "PNW"
I mean, generally within the 'box' bounded, meridianally/lattitudinally, by
Waatch, Oroville, Bozeman and Great Falls, respectively - but possibly as far
south as Twin Falls and/or as north as Edmonton, with price, "It-ness," and
availability-at-the-time, prevailing. OH! - AND comfortable distance from
Neo-Nazis/White Supremacists is always a plus. But if they can't be avoided,
entirely, please refer back to 'Open Fields of Fire'. ;-)
It sure would be swell if Google Maps had a Neo-Nazi overlay. Would save a lot
of time. X-D
I am reading your 'process' and you may have done a lot of the calculus for me
[looks like a pretty tidy little tract of land IMHO] - I will definitely
leverage that. Of course the CFO has the final say. And she's leaning much more
towards the North-Eastern Okanagan/Colville NF area (she has family/friends in
Penticton, BC). However, *anywhere* up there is closer than we are now...
