Kevin White has an Apple Business Manager account, so here’s what we did:
1. Create Managed Apple ID accounts for all of you.
2. I have the account names and temporary passwords.
3. You sign out of FaceTime and sign in with this Managed Apple ID account on
any Apple device.
What this does and doesn’t do:
— It does NOT fuck with your personal Apple ID.
— it does NOT fuck with your iCloud account.
— It only works with FaceTime on the Apple device of your choice.
— It requires a phone number for validation and a password change.
— Changing it one one device does NOT change it on other devices, except for
iPhone/Apple Watch, in which case tap ignore on the Apple Watch alert.
How it works:
Sign in to FaceTime on an iPad
• Tap Settings, then tap FaceTime.
• If there is an existing Apple ID, tap the Apple ID, tap Sign Out, tap
Use your Apple ID for FaceTime, then tap Use Other Apple ID.
• Sign in with the Managed Apple ID and temporary password, follow the
prompts for two-factor authentication, then change the password.
Sign in to FaceTime on a Mac
• Launch FaceTime, choose FaceTime > Preferences, then click Settings.
• If there is an existing Apple ID, click Sign Out.
• Sign in with the Managed Apple ID and temporary password, follow the
prompts for two-factor authentication, then change the password.
Sign in to FaceTime on an iPhone
• Tap Settings, then tap FaceTime.
• If there is an existing Apple ID, tap the Apple ID, tap Sign Out, tap
Use your Apple ID for FaceTime, then tap Use Other Apple ID.
• Sign in with the Managed Apple ID and temporary password, follow the
prompts for two-factor authentication, then change the password.
• To prevent your phone number from being seen, make sure the Managed
Apple ID under “You can be reached at” and “Caller ID” is checked.
WARNING: If you change between your personal Apple ID and a Managed Apple ID
too much in 24 hours (twice is fine), your account may be locked as a fraud
prevention measure.
When you want your Managed Apple ID and temporary password, send me an email at
schounregan@xxxxxxxxxx <mailto:schounregan@xxxxxxxxxx>. If you want to test it,
you can send me an iMessage to the same account and I’ll hop on FaceTime or you
can test with someone else. The goal is for them to see the Managed Apple ID as
the caller.
