?"Empirical Bayes Deconvolution Estimates"

Sampling from an unknown prior density g(theta) has given realizations theta[1], theta[2],...,theta[N]. The thetas are unobservable, but each theta[k] produces an observable value X[k]. For example, X[k] might be distributed as Poisson(theta[k]). The empirical Bayes deconvolution problem is to estimate the prior density g(theta) from the observations X[1], X[2],...,X[N]. Traditional asymptotic calculations are discouraging but simple modeling techniques offer some practical hope, as I will try to show with two biomedical examples.

Light refreshments for seminar guests will be served at 3:10 PM in the Crossroads Community Lounge-room 1680.

There is an excellent SAS learning opportunity coming up October 18-20, 2015 in Omaha, NE. This Midwest SAS Users Group conference is coming together well with some new things (Super SAS Bowl, Career Development Section & Panel Discussion, In-Conference Training) along with a great line up of speakers and presentations. There will also be some great networking opportunities including a trip to the Durham Museum. Please check out http://www.mwsug.org/2015/index.html for more information and be sure to click on schedule overview, paper presentations, special events, and many other items.
