of Sciuridae that I will definitely not be getting anywhere near my home.

Subject: [missmammal] New Member and Observation
My name is Hal Mitchell, I am a wildlife biologist based out of the northern
part of the state (DeSoto County). I work in the private sector and mainly
deal with avian issues surrounding renewable energy developments. While some
may know me mainly as a “birder”, I am very interested in most wildlife and
look forward to seeing how this listserv develops.
Last Sunday I just pulled into my neighborhood in Southaven, and a young
groundhog ran across the street in front of me. It was around lunchtime. I
thought it a bit bizarre. I haven’t seem that species this far west in the
