You live and learn about what not to put on the internet ;-)

Wait ... what? One could make a funding application just by reading your CV?

What did you put in there? (so that I don't make the same mistake)

Hello, Bastien.

To you and anyone else unwary enough to put their CV online, I received a number of helpful and sympathetic emails from various people at US Universities asking me if I realised that someone had lifted my CV more or less verbatim and used it to approach them with a fraudulent attempt to get funding. To cut a long story short, I informed the police, and my employer, that I had been a victim of identity theft. There was nothing particularly sensitive in my CV, but it was enough for someone to try.

Needless to say, I'm a bit cautious about what I put up to replace it!

Anyway, enough of this off-topic chit-chat ;-)

I've noticed that the -FI/FILE switch is now deprecated in favour of -FN/FILENAME, but the online MIRA manual still describes -FI/FILE. This caused me a certain amount of head-scratching recently, while attempting to override the default filenames so I can use the same info and strain files for a denovo and mapping assembly:

denovo: $(READ) $(QUAL) $(INFO) $(STRAIN)
        mira -project=$(PROJECT) \
        -fasta \
        -job=denovo,genome,normal,sanger,454 \
        -highlyrepetitive \
        -SB:lsd=on \
        SANGER_SETTINGS -LR:rns=fr,mxti=on

mapping: $(MREAD) $(MQUAL) $(INFO) $(STRAIN)
        mira -project=$(MPROJECT) \
        -fasta \
        -job=mapping,genome,sanger \
        -highlyrepetitive \
        -SB:lsd=on,lb=on \
        SANGER_SETTINGS -LR:rns=fr,mxti=on
-FN:xtii=$(PROJECT)_traceinfo_in.sanger.xml \
        COMMON_SETTINGS -FN:sdi=$(PROJECT)_straindata_in.txt

Bye,

  Tony.
