I have ffmpeg on my Windows laptop and it does convert between loads of
different formats. It is ages since I set it up though and I have forgotten
everything about it. What you might want to keep in mind though is:
* Firstly, get it installed.
* You somehow want to add it to a path setting so you can run it from anywhere.
Hopefully there will be instructions on how to do this that come with ffmpeg
or which can easily be googled
* Then run a cmd and use the cd command to get to the folder containing the
file you want to convert
* Then type something like:
ffmpeg –i GreatSong.wav GreatSong.mp3
* You will need to look up the help by typing ffmpeg followed by a question
mark to get all the possible options. The example I gave was –i. Or there are
probably precanned examples on help pages.
I have ffmpeg on my machine though really so that my DAW can handle mp4a.

Has anyone used FFmpeg? I know it can be used for various types of conversions
including video. It is a command line utility program and I've never used a
command line utility anything. <grin>
Does the fact that it is a command line utility program make it harder or
easier? I'm hoping that this could work.
